Endocrine function: Birth control pills function by introducing hormones affecting pituitary-ovarian-endometrial function. Stopping the hormone requires this axis to readjust and may have an effect on other functions of the pituitary: prolactin, thyroid, etc. While temporary change is normal, this shouldn't be persistent, and evaluation by an endocrinologist or pcp for endocrine function is a reasonable next step.
