Needs exam: That combination of symptoms is best assessed with an exam by a physician. Serious bacterial infections of the throat, larynx, or epiglottis can cause swelling, pain, fever, and difficulty breathing. In addition to antibiotics, sometimes steroids may be necessary. This is an urgent situation.
