A member asked:

What do you do for an ear that feels clogged- not sure whether it is due to earwax. is there a safe way at home to try to remove the earwax.?

Find out why first: If one's ear is feeling clogged, it is best to first find out why it is clogged before embarking on a treatment. Clogged ears can be due to wax in the ear canal, swollen ear canals, infection of the ear canal, or one could have perfectly normal and clear canals but have an infection in the middle ear. Best to have your doctor look in the ear to determine the cause of the clogging.

Yes: The first presumption is that you have wax that has blocked your ear canal. You can not determine that yourself. You need a diagnosis. But the specific answer to your question is that the safest way to liquify and sometimes completely remove ear wax is the use of hydrogen peroxide, 3%, a dropper full for about 5 days, 4 times a day. If not successful, see an ENT doctor.
