A member asked:

Persistent oral thrush: no antibiotics/steroids, no hiv, all blood work is clear. my gp is lost, any direction?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Referral is needed: If you gp is not able to figure out what's wrong then it is time for you to see someone else, and i don't mean to speak low of your gp. Certainly HIV needed to be ruled out. It may be there is some other immune problem going on, or the diagnosis of thrush may be incorrect. Sometimes oral lichen planus can present like thrush. A biopsy would help to clarify this. I suggest you see a dermatologist.
