Middle ear: Most likely you have noisy articulation between one of the small middle ear bones and either the ear drum or one of the other small vessels (called "ossicles"). It's not serious, even though annoying. This often goes away spontaneously.

Eustacean tube dysfn: There is a less common cause of this symptom called patulous eustacean tube, where the connection between the ear and the nose is held open instead of closed. While it is normal for this tube to open during swallowing, for some people, air can pass through freely. I have seen this in patients who have had sudden weight loss, stress, or immediately after an infection.
