Good question: The problem is that as an otologist, I do not know what kind of pathology you had in the middle ear. Overall, tympanoplasty results in about 50% in hearing improvement. However, as mentioned, one needs to know if you had destruction of the bones in the middle ear, how large the perforation is and whether you have any inner ear involvement. A 60 db loss sounds like incus necrosis. Ask your doc.
