Blowing: You have to blow into a tube. You will be given specific instructions by the therapist performing the test. No injections, no anesthesia. You might be given a medication to inhaler. You might have to sit in a closed glass box.

Check lung status: Pulm function tests or pft check different sections of ones lungs. Part of it checks the resistance to the flow of air in and out of the airways (like a tunnel) called spirometry. Part of it measures the volume of air the lungs can hold and the last one finds the diffusion of the air from the lungs to the blood.
