Iron and stretching: Restless leg syndrome is when you have spontaneous and unpleasant movements in your legs. It happens often at night and is very common (10% of all people). It is even more common in pregnancy, especially in the third trimester (30%). It is also more common if you have a family member who has it. Taking in more iron, stretching before sleep and taking Ambien (zolpidem) for sleep can often help.

Folate (folic acid) and iron: Folate (folic acid) and iron requirements increase several-fold during pregnancy. Those with low iron levels respond well to iron. Women supplementing with Folic Acid have a much lower incidence of restless legs during pregnancy. Stretching and magnesium supplementation may also be of benefit.
