Doubtful: That doesn't sound right. I would ask for a preop anesthesia consultation, often a routine at many hospitals, and ask the nurse practitioner or anesthesiologist at that time.

Trust: You have to trust your surgeon and anesthesia team. If you don't then find someone you can. If you are by nature this way then remember you cannot control this process. Lortab is well known and tolerated.

No: it need not be : The basic general anesthetic agents don't interfere with suboxone, or vice versa. The dose of suboxone, an excellent pain medication btw, can be adjusted temporarily if needed to manage post op pain. It's odd that the Suboxone doctor can't communicate effectively with his medical colleagues to coordinate your son's care.
