Better than white: Rice -whether it is white or brown is a carbohydrate and should be eaten in a limited amount when you have dm. Brown rice is a better choice because it is higher in fiiber and tends to have better effect on blood sugars. I usually encourage my pts w dm to stay < 30-45grms/meal in women and < 45-60 in men- rice i feel is a carb that encourage getting rid of and focusing on increased veggies.
