A member asked:

What is the best antihistimane to take for an allergic reaction resulting in hives and or a rash?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Any OTC: Antihistamines are good. Benadryl, (diphenhydramine) taken every 6 hours may cause drowsiness, so do not drive. You can use loratadine, zyrtec or Allegra . If severe enough, may need steroids. Best to be evaluated by an allergist. May need to carry epi-pen if severe.
