See doctor: You need to continue to see your orthopedic surgeon .He may suggest epidural steroid injection before surgery.

Medication, epidural: You can try a variety of medications such as oral steroids, non steroidal anti inflammatories, elavil, nuerontin/lyrica or Cymbalta (duloxetine) depending on allergies or medical issues. Epidural steroid injections are an option. Time is biggest healer as 90% resolve. However, if after 12 weeks & no improvement, surgery may be an option especially if leg pain worse than back pain & MRI shows disc herniation.
