Lower back herniated disc. couple of the them. i have pain that radiates down leg. 26 sessions of therapy and no success. what can be done?

See doctor: You need to continue to see your orthopedic surgeon .He may suggest epidural steroid injection before surgery.

Medication, epidural: You can try a variety of medications such as oral steroids, non steroidal anti inflammatories, elavil, nuerontin/lyrica or Cymbalta (duloxetine) depending on allergies or medical issues. Epidural steroid injections are an option. Time is biggest healer as 90% resolve. However, if after 12 weeks & no improvement, surgery may be an option especially if leg pain worse than back pain & MRI shows disc herniation.

Lots: Traction, tens unit, brace, anti-inflammatory medicine, nerve blocks (epidural steroid injections) and/or surgery.
