Can be: Medications & drugs can indeed affect memory. Alcohol, illicit drugs, sleep medications, anti-anxiety agents, anti-psychotics, pain medications, some antidepressants, anything that is very sedating can cause you to not register names or events -- thus forgetting them later. The "cure" is to stop using alcohol/drugs, and to see your physician to evaluate your memory concerns & make suggestions.
