Causes inflammation: There is an old saying that all health problems begin in the gut; while simplistic, it is often true. Inflammation: Certain inflammatory diseases affect the intestines as well as joints. Diseases like chrohns and ulcerative colitis can affect the joints. Also many of the drugs used to treat inflammatory bowel diseases are also used to treat inflammatory arthritis.
