I have previously had kidney stones on 4 separate occasions. i am currently experiencing left side flank pain in my back. it does not feel like it is a kidney stone. can you suggest to type a doctor that i should see you or what this pain might be?

Start with the same: One who treated you for your 4 prior kidney stone episodes as this would be the first consideration for your flank pain until otherwise ruled out. If it is ruled out then start with your primary care doctor to look for other causes.
