A member asked:

Hi- my mom who is 90 years old and extremely healthy has been told by her doctor to start taking flosamax again. why?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Osteoporosis: The risk of having a hip fracture increases with age. I am sure he is concerned about her bones, their potential weakness at age 90. Most hip fractures at this age are actually not from falls but occur first then the fall happens. Additionally at age 90, the complication is usually pneumonia which has a high mortality rate. Her doctor is trying to keep her healthy!
