Use vitamin D3: Of the two, Vitamin D3 2000 IU twice a day for 3 months, followed by 2000 IU per day forever is safe and cheap. Fosomax has been associated with femur fractures after long term use

Exercise too: One of the biggest determinants of bone mineral density is lean body mass. Exercise is important for building lean body mass. Exercise is also important for putting load on your bones. This load is important for bone mass as bone strengthens as stresses are put upon it. Weight-bearing physical activity such as walking is a good idea, although make sure your doctor approves.

Osteoporosis: For osteoporosis, it's weight bearing exercise, calcium and vitamin D3 supplementation, keep your weight down. Medications when necessary would include Fosamax, Actonel or Boniva (ibandronate). You'd need bone density tests every two to three years after you reach the menopause and treat more aggressively with medications dependent on the results. You're young to have this. Why? Investigated?
