Cavity or puss: Have you seen a dentist recently? If not time for check up because usually puss has salty tast. Do you have post nasal drip? Could be another reason.

Many causes: A persistent salty taste in the mouth can have many possible causes, including: dehydration caused by inadequate fluid intake or excessive fluid loss; medications such as chemotherapy drugs or anti-thyroid drugs; salivary gland diseases such as bacterial infections of the salivary glands;and finally, post nasal drainage such as with sinus infection or allergies.
