A member asked:

Why could a broken elbow be (seemingly) more painful than other broken bones?

May be nerve: The ulnar nerve passes where the "funny" bone is on the medial side of the elbow joint. If the fracture is in the proximity to it or affecting other nerve(s) then you may have a heightened pain sensation.

Depends: Most bones are painful due to the periosteal wrapping around the bones that have a lot of nerve endings. Fractures about the elbow are painful because any movement you make to try to use the hand tend to move the joint and stress the fracture.
