Basic Measures : You should be using some type of high efficiency respirator when in these environments (n95 at least for particulates). Besides the exposure to crystalline substances like silica and asbestos, you may also be exposed to infectious agents like hanta virus. In addition to the respirator, you may also need to wear protective outer clothing unless you shed all of your clothes after exposure and shower.
