4-6 weeks: Typical treatments for shoulder tendonitis include use of anti-inflammatory medicines, rest of the joint, and possibly physical therapy. Avoiding the repetitive movement that led to the condition is most helpful. If these conservative measures fail, then a cortisone injection may help.

Depends: Having of tendinitis in the shoulder depends on the tendon affected, the amount of tendon affected and the treatment followed. Usually just time is not enough to make it go away permanently and therapy or other treatment is necessary.
