Complex problem: Not enough information to answer. Small hiatal hernia would not give you symptoms. Gastritis could be secondary to h pylori. Needs biopsy.

Unknown: Nausea is a very nonspecific symptom. It is not related to your small hiatal hernia, but could be from the gastritis. If the ulcer recurs, ask you GI doctor about zollinger-ellison syndrome, an uncommon tumor that produces excessive amounts of gastrin, a hormone that produces acid. Also, gastroparesis is another uncommon disorder diagnosed by nuclear medicine gastric emptying study.
