Need examination: The cause of unrelenting heel pain can be many causes and should be examined by a professional. A podiatrist can be helpful in determining cause. It can be traumatic cause, arthritis, biomechanical, infectious or it could require a xray to find out cause. That being said, nsaids, ice, otc devices could give you some relief.

Plantar fascitiis: Would be my first choice. This is more a biomechanical issue and a good arch support is recommended, ice, mild stretching of the fascial structure as well as the achilles tendon. Antiinflammatories like allege or Motrin are helpful as well. If pain persists please consult your podiatrist.

Many possibilities: Heel pain is most often caused by plantar fasciitis, a condition that is sometimes also called heel spur syndrome when a spur is present. Heel pain may also be due to other causes, such as, diabetic neuropathy, infection, tendonitis, arthritis, stress fracture, nerve irritation, retained foreign body, bone tumor, or a cyst. Have it evaluated by a professional and get the appropriate treatment.
