Probably: Alprozalam is a short acting anti-anxiety medication. It can also be used for insomnia in selected people. It's also a very popular street drug. What your friend's problem is only he can tell based on the information provided. I doubt it is insomnia as he uses it 3 times a day. If it is anxiety, it's definitely not the best treatment for it. I have some suspicion about potential abuse of it.

Addiction potential: I'm assuming you mean alprazolam. This class of meds is addictive. Cold turkey cessation can result in withdrawal symptoms including death.
