Not enough info.: Alprozolam does not really cause depression or help depression. Xanax (alprazolam) is really only useful for short term management of anxiety (1-2 months) daily use after that period does not really help with anxiety and can actually get in the way. A safer and more effective long term medication that could help with both depression and anxiety might be one of the ssri meds such as zoloft or lexapro.

Maybe: Gad, or anxiety in general, often runs very tightly with depression--so those symptoms may becoming more pronounced. Xanax (alprazolam) is a sedative, so can depress energy/mood/etc., as well. Should speak to your prescriber and possibly a psychiatrist for medication consult to see if could benefit from antidepressant.
