MRSA: Am assuming he has only skin lesions. He is almost certainly a nasal and skin carrier, and the risk of this persisting can be reduced by use of nasal Mupirocin ointment and use of a Chlorhexidine containing soap as the only soap he is using. Contagion is always an issue, but if only a carrier without active lesions, less likely.

Precautions: Wear disposable gloves when handling the baby, you may be able to contain the infection. Usually community acquired MRSA infections can be treated better. Suggest to see an infectious disease specialist.
