Sensitivity : Some people are very sensitive to mosquito bites.. It in not a true allergy. Mosquito do not have venom but certain people react very strongly to the mosquito saliva releasing certain chemicals that cause redness, swelling and sometimes fluid.

Mosquito spit!: Yes, when the mosquito bites she literally drills the skin with her needle-like proboscis then spits in her saliva! that prevents clotting, allowing her to sip her blood meal until she is full. (and, yes, only the female mosquito bites!) her saliva triggers an immune system reaction that produces a wheal (the liquid you mention) in reponse to the bite. This also prompts the itch &redness as well.
