Therapy and DIY: Often mild/moderate depression will run its course and you get better without treatment. It symptoms are bothersome to you or those you live with, consider some therapy. Also, eating a healthy, balanced diet, moderate aerobic exercise, get-involved in community activities, gather with friends will help. St. John's wort supplement may help as well--most prescribed in germany. Consult doc. Good luck.

Depression: I agree with my colleagues talking about psychotherapy, exercise, etc. St. John's wort is a "pill, " but is a botanical rather than a pharmaceutical one. Sam-e is another option -- is a nutraceutical more expensive than st. John's wort, but can also be helpful in mild-moderate depression. Rhodiola rosea too. Classical homeopathy with an experienced homeopath taking individual case & prescribing.
