First see primary Dr: There are many signs that may suggest depression, such as: feelings of sadness or hopelessness, angry outbursts or irritability, loss of interest in normal activities, sleep disturbances, tiredness or a lack of energy, either weight gain or weight loss due to appetite changes, anxiety or restlessness, slowed thinking, feeling worthless, etc... Seeing one's primary care doctor is a good start.

You can: start w a medical eval. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy or insight oriented psychotherapy can help. Don't isolate. Spend time w people. Use your support system. Get at least 8 hours of sleep/night & eat healthfully. Daily aerobic physical activity is a big +. Try acupuncture, tai chi, qi gong, yoga or meditation. Recommend the “Feeling Good Book" by Dr. David Burns.

Agree with Dr. F: Regular aerobic exercise is as effective for depression as any medication in cases of mild and moderate depression. Have a healthy diet, exercise 30 minutes/day, drink plenty of water daily so your urine is mostly colorless, have safe sex, no tobacco alcohol weed or street drugs. For nutrition: http://www.choosemyplate.gov/. Wish you good health!
