Yes: It is a low grade lymphoma and may never need therapy. However, if it does it can be helpful in preventing and treating complications. Hope this helps.

A form of cancer: Waldenstrom's macroglobulinemia is usually associated with lymphoma, a form of cancer and needs to be treated.

Treat if needed: It does not need to be treated unless it is leading to organ compromise or igm level is greater than 5 grams, or the serum viscosity is high. Not a curable malignancy so treat when needed.
