Augment & replenish: Vitamins alone won't cure severe depression -- but low vitamin d correlates with depression, and replacing it may help. L-methyl-folate (vitamin b9) can be used to augment antidepressant effect. Replenishing low vitamin B12 may help also. Research also implicates highly processed food diets in depression, so whole-foods diet as much as possible is best -- with plenty of omega 3's too.

B8 & B9: There is some literature to indicate that inositol (vitamin b8) has show some effectiveness in depression, however the doses and cost are significant. In addition, l-methylfolate, the form of Folic Acid (b9) that crosses the blood brain barrier has been used to treat and/or augment the treatment of depressive disorders.
