Specialist: I would not try any home remedies or trying to force your jaw open...Closed lock means limited opening, with the mandible not being to accommodate moving down and forward because of a displaced articular disk... Ok, this is the technical description. You should see a specialist who hopefully use some physical therapy and mouthpieces. Can take awhile to "unlock" depending on duration.

Depends: Depends on how recent it is, and how bad are the symptoms. Treatment can range from just observiing (if opening improving and minimal pain), to jaw manipulation (if lock is very recent), to arthroscopic surgery (if other treatment has failed).
