Not many things: If you are truly infected it must be with an organism of low pathogenicity. Tuberculosis, fungal infection, cytomegalovirus come to mind. But all this is unlikely. If your vocal cords are swollen for 6 months you should see an ENT doctor asap.

Voice abuse: I have to ask how you would know that your vocal folds are are swollen and infected? Only a laryngologist would be able to tell you. If you have not had a direct look at the vocal folds by a specialist, you could not know that you have laryngitis. Moreover, a viral infection of the vocal folds would never last for 6 months. The likely cause of hoarseness of that duration would be voice abuse.
