Decrease demand: Milk supply is based on demand. Decrease or stop breast feeding, do not pump, restrict fluids, stay active, apply cold packs to the breasts, and wear a tight support bra. Your breasts may get engorged and uncomfortable (the cabbage leaves may help here) but stick with it and your milk production will decrease in about 24 hours.

Weaning: If you have nursed for 15 months, the best thing to do in order to decrease discomfort for both of you is to do it gradually so your body decreases prolactin production. Start with weaning one feed and do this for a couple of days, then increase to two and so forth until you are down to the minimum. Wear a snug bra and put cool compresses on your breasts. Sage tea might also help.
