Both give the same: nutritional value, which is extremely important. Nursing allows a different, closer bonding of mother and baby. However, if nursing is not possible, it is certainly worthwhile and beneficial to the baby to give the expressed breast milk by a bottle.

There are many benefits to breast feeding including evidence that babies who are breast fed for at least four months have fewer infections.

Nurturing: While the nutrition is the same, there is value in natural feeding. Infants who breast feed are listening to mom's heartbeat, swaying with her movements, and sharing the same space. This in some ways mimics the comfort afforded by the womb. As the infant grows older, they may or may not need or appreciate the nurturing. A breast feeder that finishes quickly and wants to get off is ready to wean.
