Is there such a thing as a breast reconstruction surgeon?

Not really, because: Almost all plastic surgeons perform some type of breast reconstruction. There are some who specialize in this area who may perform more complex types of reconstruction. Your surgeon should be certified by the american board of plastic surgery and have an interest and experience in breast reconstruction.

Plastic surgeon: Some general surgeons are experimenting with a reconstructive technique they call oncoplastic surgery for minor reconstruction of small partial mastectomy defects but by far and away most breast reconstruction still is done by plastic surgeons. Just look for someone you feel comfortable with.

Breast surgery: I think your question reects the change in general surgery. Since the mid 90's more and more general surgeons devote their full effort to breast surgery.
