Not really: CHF can cause left atrial enlargement & many older patients have enlarged left atriums with no chf.

Left atrium enlarged: The left atrium gets enlarged when it has a pressure or volume load upon it. It can be associated with various heart abnormalities including CHF but it isn't a cause per se.
