It depends: A person with bulimia nervosa could die suddenly at anytime due to several things. One could be a tear between the esophagus and the stomach causing something called a mallory-weiss tear and they could quickly bleed to death. Another likely cause of sudden death could be from heart failure caused by an imbalance in what are known as electrolytes. There's a 25% mortality rate for untreated bulimia.
