No, not even close.: Narcotics are medicatoins that affect pain systems in the body. Amphetamine is a stimulant that is used mostly in treating adhd but also can be used at times to help with depression and for narcolepsy, a sleep disorder.

Depends: Narcotic originally referred to any psychoactive compound with any sleep-inducing properties. It became most often linked to opiates such as heroin. The term narcotic takes on different meaning in certain situations. In the us, any illegal drug is considered a narcotic. As a pharmacological classification it has even more meanings. As is stands, amphetamines are not considered narcotics.
