A member asked:

Can a baby be tested for hiv?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Yes: If under 1 year of age, the best test to perform would be a pcr for hiv. This detects actual viral particles in the baby's system. Antibody testing may give a false positive in young babies due to circulating antibodies passed from the mother to the fetus during pregnancy.
