Intolerance: Intolerance is not an allergy. Lactose intolerance is common & just means your intestines don't have the enzyme needed to convert lactase sugar to a digestible form, so it remains behind where gut germs digest it, create gas and acidic byproducts. This can cause gas, cramping, diarrhea. Most lactose intolerant folks can take in small to moderate amounts without having symptoms. Cool whip is okay.
