A member asked:

What's the difference between a panic attack and hyperventilation?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Quite a bit: One may hyperventilate during a panic attack or one may have other signs such as sweating or elevated pulse. Hyperventilation can be voluntary whereas a panic attack does not lend itself to control. There are cognitive ways (a type of therapy) to prevent panic attacks and/or meds. A family doctor or a therapist can help with treatment.
