Psychotherapy + meds: Depression is serious and requires treatment. First consult with a doctor to identify if that is the proper diagnosis for you and then begin the process of healing. Depression is highly treatable with psychotherapy and medications but does not resolve easily without treatment. Healthy habits that include regular exercise, good sleep hygiene, and supportive social interaction will help.

TMS: Another option: Transcranial magnetic stimulation (tms) is a fda-cleared depression therapy for patients unresponsive to an antidepressant drug. Tms is an non-invasive outpatient procedure that is effective and has few side effects. It uses simple mri-strength magnetic waves to stimulate a part of the brain that is underactive in depression.

DEPRESSION: Get an evaluation from a psychiatrist to help identify what depression means to you and whatever else may be bothering you. Consider recommendations for medication if any are given. Get a referral for a reputable psychotherapist to speak with. Meds and therapy combined are most optimal; no just one or the other.
