Psychotherapy is an important part of this treatment, whether or not medications are necessary. Depression: Be sure to avoid highly processed food. Take enough high quality omega 3 supplements to get your AA/EPA ratio to between 1 and 3. I also recommend taking L-tyrosine 1,500 mg and 5-htp 150 mg twice daily on an empty stomach. You can combine these monoamine precursors with low dose SSRI medications, but keep the dose low. For example, Celexa or Lexapro 5-10 mg daily.
