Many ways : Many ways and all can claim a 90% success rate as that is the natural history if due to a disc herniation. Time is the biggest healer along with activity modification, exercise, physical therapy, medication, epidural steroid injections, and healthy habits like weight control, no smoking & regular exercise. When surgery indicated, 90% success rate when leg pain is predominant issue & a non smoker.

Conservative Rx: Sciatica is a condition where there is irritation of the sciatic nerve. This can produce pain, weakness, sensory and reflex changes. Because the sciatic nerve is a larger bundle from several smaller nerve roots, the areas involved depends on where the nerve is irritated. It will involve the back, buttock, thigh, calf, foot, genital areas. Treatment starts with medications, pt, injections.
