Burn/electric pain: Sciatica refers to pain in the leg. It is usually limited to a specific area of the leg. Most often the pain starts in the buttocks and radiates down the back or side of the leg into the foot. The area of radiation is determined by the nerve root affected. The pain is a constant burning or electrical sensation, not worse with activities and not usually associated with back pain.
