Definitely: Risperdal has been used successfully as a treatment for social anxiety, and it sounds like his plan is to use it short term. Review the side effects. Most of them do not pertain to short-term use. Call and ask him what the d diagnosis and the long-term plan are. He should be able to enlighten you as to what his intentions are long-term. For now however you may find that it has a significant beneficial effect for you. Just discuss the short-term side effects with him before you start taking itso that you feel more comfortable with it.

Yes: You are absolutely right. You should re-visit this with your doctor and discuss not only the diagnosis, but understand what Risperidone is, and does. Be certain that you make yourself very clear about your symptoms, and fears as well as what your expectations are for resolution. Only with all this information will a possible diagnosis and proposed treatment plan be established.
