Weight Changes: Many things -- water intake, sodium intake (causing water retention), time in menstrual cycle, recency of a meal, recency of a bowel movement, etc. This is why physicians tend to view any "change" in weight (as shown on the scale) that is less than 3 pounds as "not significant, " meaning that it may not be due to any enduring change in body composition (i.e. - a reduction in fat or muscle).
