Emergently, if at al: Sudden loss of hearing is considered a medical emergency. If the hearing loss is nerve hearing loss, and not due to fluid behind the ear drum, the most common treatment is high dose steroids, usually orally, if this fails, we will frequently inject steroids through a numbed ear drum. If the hearing loss is severe this might not have much effect. Fluid behind ear drum needs time, or a tube.
