How long does it take to remove a keloid?

Varies: It is difficult to remove a keloid surgically because it can grow back , or grow back larger than before. Keloids can be reduced in size by freezing , injections or lasr. In some keloids a combination of treatments are used with or without pressure to flatten the keloid and decrease the pain.

Size?locale?reconst?: The healing will depend on the size, location and need for reconstruction.. However most healing occurs within 6 weeks. There is a high risk of recurrence and prophylactic measures such as pressure, silicone and steroid or 5-FU injections may be prescribed for upmtomteo years after surgery.

It depends: Surgical excision is the fastest method. Multiple steroid injections take months.Your doctor needs to individualize your options.
